The HMRI Poo Palace at Newcastle Show

HMRI’s giant inflatable digestive system will return to the Hall of Industries at Newcastle Show on Friday March 1 – Sunday March 3, 2024, and will be open daily from 9.30am – 4.30pm.

The brainchild of the University of Newcastle’s Gastrointestinal Research Group from Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), the Poo Palace is a free attraction where visitors can climb into a big mouth and work their way through a stomach, small intestine, colon and pop out of a very large bottom.

  • Learn about how poo is made with a live experiment by HMRI’s team of gastrointestinal researchers
  • Travel through the HMRI Poo Palace for a larger-than-life experience of how your digetive tract works
  • Learn about what a healthy poo looks like and make one from playdough
  • Free show bag and official Poo Palace crown!
  • Chat to our team of researchers, including dietitians about what you can do to promote a healthy digestive system!

Visitors are also invited to participate in live experiments, make their very own playdough poos and pick up a free show bag.
