‘It’s always been that way’ – ABC listen

It’s up to individual sporting bodies to choose whether they would cover athletes’ families’ tickets, according to the Australian Olympic Committee.

The organisation’s CEO, Matt Carroll, told Sammy J that while the committee had arranged for two tickets per athlete, they were not in charge of covering the cost.

“Yes, they are expensive tickets, but they’ve still got to go buy them,” he said.

This comes as Olympians like swimmer Tilly Kearns voice concern over the cost of tickets for their events.
