Screamin’ Gay to celebrate the life of Glenda Jackson

This weekend’s Screamin’ Gay event at The Lass O’Gowrie Hotel will pay special tribute to the iconic Glenda Jackson.

A legendary drag icon, Glenda’s recent passing in May has deeply impacted the community.

“Glenda’s recent passing on May 27, 2024, left a profound impact on the community, and we are proud to celebrate her life and contributions during this special event,” Founder and President of Newcastle Pride, Lee-Anne McDougall said.

Hosted by the sensational She_Needa, June’s Screamin’ Gay will feature performances from local drag superstars including Aella Stone, Beverley Fabulosity, Kandii Rhinestone, Nova Hudson, and Sticky Waffles.

The event will also showcase a stellar lineup of DJs, with Felix da Kitty, Lisa Anita, and Tiff set to keep the dance floor buzzing. With such a dynamic mix of talent, attendees can expect an unforgettable night of entertainment and celebration.

Since its inception, Screamin’ Gay has been a pioneering monthly event, known for its inclusive and vibrant party atmosphere. It has become a cornerstone of Newcastle’s social scene, providing a safe haven for the LGBTQIA+ community. As the first event of its kind in the city, Screamin’ Gay continues to break boundaries, promoting diversity, unity, and acceptance.

All proceeds from the event will support the annual Newcastle Pride Festival and free youth events.
