Council events cancelled due to extreme weather alert

As the Sunshine Coast prepares for heavy rainfall in the early hours of Friday, February 20, all Council events for this day have been cancelled.

These include events organised by Sunshine Coast Libraries, Caloundra Regional Gallery, Sunshine Coast Venues including Sunshine Coast Stadium sporting activities.

The Travel Smart Start Cycling, Stay Cycling workshop on Saturday morning at Maroochydore and Caloundra has been postponed. A decision on weekend events will be made tomorrow morning and will be updated on Council’s Facebook page.

For all other events, Council suggests the community checks with the organisers.

As there is a possibility that roads will be flooded people should avoid all unnecessary travel on Friday.

Remember – whether driving or being tempted to enter a river or creek – if it’s flooded, forget it.

Weather warnings, road closures and other important information can be found on Council’s Disaster Hub at www.disaster.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au. For regular weather updates, you can also tune into your local radio station.
