The new travel insurance cancellation product you’ll want to know about

You can trust Cover-More to be on the pulse of what Aussie travellers want when it comes to travel insurance coverage. With their new first-to-market Cancellation Plus Cover, your hesitant-to-book clients can now get the assurance – and insurance – they seek for their domestic and overseas trips.

When cancelling planned travel, your clients used to be limited to coverage only for major life events. We all know, however, that life throws us many curveballs that derail not only our ability to travel but our desire to as well.

Whether it’s bad news, a bad breakup, or a bad case of anxiety, Cover-More has recognised that disruptive events can lead to big losses for travellers when their insurance policy doesn’t match the unplanned life event.

Through their new market-leading Cancellation Plus Cover, your clients can now upgrade their cancellation protection before embarking on trips big and small.

Cancellation Plus Cover

With Cover-More’s new Cancellation Plus Cover a range of life moments that were previously uncovered are now insurable. For example:

  • Sickness of a close friend If your bestie falls ill, the last thing anyone thinks of is sipping Mai Tai’s poolside or hopping aboard a cruise to tropical shores. With Cancellation Plus Cover, your clients can decide to cancel their trip to support their closest mate.
  • Travel anxiety This is a game-changer for anxious travellers. With Cover-More’s new policy upgrade, the trip can be cancelled – and covered – if the nerves win.
  • Relationship break-ups While Eat-Pray-Loving your way around the world works for some post-break-up, for others a relationship break-down makes taking that trip – particularly one planned together – a journey to greater heartbreak.
  • Work reasons If you’ve ever applied for a new job with trips in the pipeline, you are no doubt familiar with the dread of saying you’ve got a big jolly booked. If it turns out to be a deal breaker for you getting the job, Cancellation Plus Cover will be the greatest career investment!
  • Unexpected household expense If the roof collapses at home, the budget for luxuries often collapses shortly after. With unexpected household expenses, Cover-More’s new policy upgrade means the trip expenses and can be redirected to support the home crisis.
  • Pregnancy For some pregnant women, even though their doc has given them the all-clear to travel, they may not want to take the risk – or suffer the discomfort. This is another great win for travellers wanting coverage beyond the bog standard.

A game-changer for you

Cover-More’s Cancellation Plus Cover is not only a game-changer for your clients, but for you, too. An evolution of their pandemic-borne Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) product, it demonstrates Cover-More’s deeper level of care to their broad customer base.

Easing the concerns of hesitant travellers allows you to lock that booking in confidently, knowing your clients have additional coverage.

Whether they’re applying for new jobs, trying to get pregnant, or generally feeling anxious about life (and the cost of living) right now, you can provide reassurance with Cover-More’s Cancellation Plus Cover.

So, how does it work?

Cover-More’s new policy will help agents allay concerns of wary travellers.

Here’s the nitty gritty on how it works:

  • You can add Cancellation Plus Cover to your client’s standard cancellation cover. Much like you would add extras for snow sports, cruises, or motorbike travel, this cancellation upgrade is an easy add-on for an additional premium.
  • This peace of mind upgrade is for travellers on the highest Cover-More international and domestic plans. It affords extra flexibility should a ‘didn’t see that coming’ event occur.
  • Cancellation Plus Cover allows travellers to cancel a trip before departure for reasons not otherwise covered by the standard cancellation cover.
  • For single-trip policies, Cancellation Plus Cover applies to travel costs paid for after the policy is issued. It includes any travel costs the customer has incurred in the 48 hours before purchasing their policy. It may also be added to certain annual multi-trip policies.
  • Cancellation Plus Cover is available to add to any travel insurance policy more than seven days before the trip’s scheduled start date.
  • Journeys must be cancelled 48 hours or more before the scheduled trip start date for this upgrade cover to apply.
  • Travellers may be able to claim towards prepaid travel costs. These include flights, accommodation, cruises, tours, and transport that are non-refundable and not recoverable in any other way. Cover is capped at $10,000 per policy.
  • On the International Comprehensive Care Plan or Comprehensive Care Domestic Plan, the amount paid (if the claim is accepted) is 75% of the non-refundable, unused portion of prepaid travel costs or the cancellation cover sum insured, whichever is less.

While Cover-More has aimed to cover more of life’s big moments, there are still some extreme situations where cover will not apply.

Think ash clouds that halt air travel. Or widespread physical destruction due to war, terrorism, or a nuclear meltdown. And the days of getting cover for government-mandated border closures are long gone.
