National Netball Championships locked in

This year’s National Netball Championships will be held in Victoria.

Melbourne’s south-east will host Australian netball’s largest pathway event this April when the 2024 National Netball Championships are held at Frankston’s newest sporting precinct.

Netball Australia’s 17/U and 19/U pathway competitions will be contested across the week of April 9 – 14 at the newly opened Jubilee Park Stadium located on the Mornington Peninsula.

The annual National Netball Championships provide an opportunity for developing athletes, coaches, umpires and officials from each state and territory to compete across six days, with one team from the 17/U and 19/U age groups crowned champions on the final day.

The 39-year-old event has produced some of the best talent in Australian netball, including an array of past and present Origin Australian Diamonds.

With representatives from every state and territory, the 2024 competing squads will hail from the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.

“The National Netball Championships are such an important event for the future of our sport,” said Netball Australia interim CEO Stacey West.

“The championships form part of our Australian 17/U and 19/U squad selections and provide an opportunity for coaches, umpires and high performance staff to test their skills in a national environment.

“We are excited to hold this year’s event in partnership with Visit Victoria at Frankston’s newly built state-of-the-art sporting facility Jubilee Park Stadium.”

The event is supported by the Victorian Government through their major sponsorship of Netball Australia.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said: “We’re backing netball from grassroots to the elite and it’s fantastic to host the 2024 National Netball Championships at Frankston’s state-of-the-art Jubilee Park Stadium.”

In a National Netball Championships first, the official Suncorp Super Netball trophy will be on display across day one of the event for fans to get photos with and see in person.

It will mark the final chance for Melbourne fans to see the shining silverware before the Suncorp Super Netball Trophy Tour concludes in Melbourne ahead of Round 1 of the 2024 Suncorp Super Netball season.

Tickets to the 2024 National Netball Championships go on sale from Thursday 29 February.

Ticket details will be available in the coming weeks.
