Canberra Writers Festival is currently searching for a CEO

The Canberra Writers Festival is Seeking a Chief Executive Officer

The Canberra Writers Festival (CWF) is currently on the lookout for a dynamic and passionate Chief Executive Officer to help co-write its next chapter. The festival aims to bring together Canberra audiences and the audiences it attracts from across the country in a vibrant literary conversation, both during the festival and throughout the year.

A Festival Embedded in Canberra’s Fabric

The disruption caused by the pandemic has had a profound impact on festivals across the country, and the CWF is no exception. However, the festival’s board chair, Ms Jane O’Dwyer, is dedicated to ensuring that Canberra has a writers’ festival deeply embedded in the fabric of the city. The goal is to provide spaces for exploring big questions and celebrating the talent and craftsmanship of Australian storytellers.

Ms O’Dwyer states, “We’re looking for a well-rounded and energetic CEO to help us establish a festival that will make Canberra proud and become an unmissable event for book lovers, writers, and idea enthusiasts across Australia.”

Collaborating with Artistic Director Beejay Silcox

The chosen CEO will work closely with Artistic Director Beejay Silcox to bring her artistic vision to life. Silcox envisions a festival that is a joyful collision of innovative art-makers, big thinkers, big dreamers, and avid readers. The festival has already made exciting announcements, including hosting Behrouz Boochani in conversation with Amy Remeikis at the National Press Club of Australia and forming a new partnership with the National Sound and Film Archive.

Ms O’Dwyer expresses gratitude to outgoing Festival Director Paul Donohoe for his dedication over the past six years, especially during the challenging times of the pandemic.
