Helen McCabe and Dr Liz Allen headline Fearless Women events | HerCanberra

Fearless Women, a Canberra-based NFP established two years ago to support girls and young women via education and mentoring programs, has launched its latest fundraising series.

A series of lunchtime talks throughout the year, Little Lunch and Big Lunch, will bring women (and men) together for networking, and inspiration from interesting and notable female speakers.

“Little Lunch is a casual, quirky event at Yellow Edge in Barton and Big Lunch is a more formal presentation at the esteemed National Press Club,” says Glenda Stevens, CEO Fearless Women.

“We’re so excited to get this series underway with such impressive speakers. And they definitely set the tone for the remainder of the 2024 lunches.”

The inaugural Big Lunch is happening on Thursday 2 May at the NPC with the seemingly fearless Helen McCabe as guest speaker. A former journalist, editor and digital media executive, Helen founded Future Women, an inclusive member-led organisation that is committed to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces.

Dr Liz Allen

The first Little Lunch kicks off on Thursday 11 April with respected ANU demographer and population commentator, Dr Liz Allen, as guest speaker. From high-school drop out, homeless and a teen mum, Liz says life on the edge has afforded her a unique power to help those who can’t help themselves.

All funds raised will directly boost the existing education and mentoring programs and assist in commencing the Fearless Women counselling service.
