New author events for Geelong Regional Libraries – Geelong Times

Geelong Regional Libraries have announced its new lineup for upcoming author events.

Over the coming months the library will host events with big name authors as they discuss their latest releases.

“Our events are something we are very proud of – from big name international bestsellers, to celebrities, to shining a light on stories and topics that may otherwise go unnoticed,” Geelong Regional Libraries Chief Executive Vanessa Schernickau said.

International author Dervla McTiernan will kick things off on April 24 as she talks about her novel What Happened to Nina, with author J.P. Pomare.

What Happened to Nina follows a young couple and is a story about two families at war.

McTiernan is an author of five novels and has won several awards, including an International Thriller Writers Award and a Ned Kelly Award, there will be book sales and an author signing at the event.

On May 7, Masterchef Australia’s first winner and author Julie Goodwin will discuss her memoir Your Time Starts Now, exploring her life after winning the reality TV show.

The book reveals some of the battles Goodwin has faced in the past with the hopes of helping others who are struggling with their mental health, her memoir will be released on April 23.

Bruce Pascoe and his partner Lyn Harwood will discuss their latest memoir and lifestyle book Black Duck: A year at Yumburra on May13.

The book was released last month and is a personal reflection on life, country and the consequences of Dark Emu.

“Over the next few months, we are excited and honoured to host a group of authors and speakers who have become masters of their craft,” Ms Schernickau said.

“We hope to see – and inspire – as many of you as possible at these events.”
