Thousands of Tasmanian party-goers have already gathered at Cornelian Bay this afternoon for the first hours of the inaugural Haydays festival.
Around 5,000 people have gathered in anticipation of performances by Luude, Pnau and the Jungle Giants, who are all set to perform later tonight before the festival resumes for a second day tomorrow.

Meanwhile, just up the road at PW1, another crowd has also flocked to the annual Taste of Summer event on the opening afternoon of the week-long food and drink festival.
Tasmania Police Inspector John Toohey is warning those heading out that officers will be conducting both “overt and covert” patrols at the busy events and said anti-social and unlawful behaviour “won’t be tolerated”.
He said specialist resources, including the use of a drug dog, will also be present at the Haydays festival.
“We’re encouraging patrons to be safe and responsible by drinking responsibly, looking after their mates and planning a safe way home,” he said.
“Never risk getting behind the wheel if you’re under the influence of drugs or alcohol – losing your licence or killing or seriously injuring yourself or someone else in a crash is not the way we want anyone to end their year.”
