New tack for Sydney Harbour SailGP event on SBS

SailGP, one of the world’s fastest-growing sports properties, is set for an action-packed event on Sydney Harbour with the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney set to run to the rapt attention of worldwide audiences on 24-25 February.
Australian viewers can experience the action of the league’s Sydney event, with the award-winning broadcast available for the first time on SBS and SBS On Demand.
Through the new partnership, SBS will broadcast the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney event live and free. The 90-minute broadcast will air on SBS and live stream via SBS On Demand from 4:00pm to 5:30pm AEDT on both race days, as Tom Slingsby’s Australia SailGP Team prepares to battle against nine rival nations.

In addition, a dedicated highlights program of the remaining five Season 4 SailGP events will be made available for viewing on SBS, including the Grand Final in San Francisco on 14-15 July.

“Sydney was the destination for the first ever SailGP in February 2019 and this month’s event will mark the record fifth time SailGP has been staged on the iconic Sydney Harbour. This partnership with SBS highlights the continued growth of the league in Australia and signifies a joint commitment and promise to deliver great sporting moments to Australians.”

“Local audiences can also catch up on all the action with race highlights on Viceland and SBS On Demand. We can’t wait to see the excitement in Sydney as the F50 catamarans pass the starting line.”
Fans will be able to watch the long-standing rivalry continue between the reigning SailGP champions Australians and Peter Burling’s New Zealand team, set to be Australian captain Tom Slingsby’s main competitor for the Season 4 SailGP championship title.
The Australians currently lead the Season 4 Championship by 56 points to 50 points over their New Zealand rivals, with the United States, skippered by Taylor Canfield in third on 43 points.
