Australia Day Reflective Celebration to be Held at Townsville’s Strand

Save the Date for a Fun-filled Australia Day Celebration in Townsville

Get ready to reflect, respect, and celebrate Australia with an exciting lineup of events organized by the Townsville City Council. Taking place on Friday, January 26th, these Australia Day festivities along The Strand and Jezzine Barracks are not to be missed.

A Day Packed with Activities for the Whole Family

Start your day off right with a fun run at Brigadier North Park in Jezzine Barracks, beginning at 6am. After working up an appetite, enjoy a free Aussie breakfast at 8am, available to the first 500 attendees. The highlight of the morning will be the Australia Day Flag Raising Ceremony at Jezzine Barracks at 9am.

As the day progresses, head over to The Strand for the Beach Day Out event from 10:30am to 3pm. With activities for all ages, it’s the perfect opportunity to soak up the sun and enjoy the beautiful beach. And don’t forget to indulge in some delicious food at the Great Australian Bites event from 11am to 2pm. This foodie favorite will feature tasting plates, pop-up food trucks, and live music.

Special Guest Appearance by MasterChef Australia Finalist Rhiannon Anderson

We are thrilled to announce that MasterChef Australia finalist Rhiannon Anderson will be joining us at the Great Australian Bites event. Rhiannon is passionate about cooking with locally sourced produce and will be showcasing the incredible flavors of our region. Don’t miss this opportunity to taste some of the best local delicacies on January 26th.

An Event Supported by Townsville City Council and Partners

Great Australian Bites Townsville is presented by the Townsville City Council in partnership with the Queensland Government and National Australia Day Council. The Flag Raising Ceremony is presented in conjunction with the Queensland Government, while Beach Day Out is presented in conjunction with the National Australia Day Council. Additionally, Council supports the Survival Day event presented by Big Eye Theatre at Strand Park, which aims to showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
