Events Strategy

The Tweed Shire Events Strategy 2016-2020 (2021) aims to provide a framework to assist the community and Council to develop and support festivals and events in the Tweed. The strategy supports existing events, encourages development and sets the framework for attracting desirable events for strategic benefit.

With the event industry significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Council determined at its meeting 3 December 2020 to extend the Strategy for a period of one year until December 2021.

Council has recently contracted an organisation to set Council’s event direction (for the next four years) by aligning the destination’s position on events with the desires of the community, with an anticipated adoption date of a new Strategy in early 2022.
