There are some small fields but still some goof value on offer at Sandown Hillside on Wednesday.
RACE 1
PORTER is a nicely bred So You Think colt who has taken time to mature. He is out of a half-sister to Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist and looks well suited at the 1500m first-up. He had specking in Saturday grade on debut in May and looked very good winning two recent jumpouts. He could be winning better quality races than this in the near future and $5 looks a great price. DOUBLE GLAZED produced race-fastest last 200m at Lakeside in July and has since done well in a recent jumpout.
SUGGESTED BET: Porter to win at $5.

RACE 2
TABATA SET can cause an upset here. She has always shown talent, including a close fifth in Listed grade before a spell. Liked her recent jumpout when she worked to the line under a good hold to beat a handy field. There is going to be plenty of pace on which should allow her to have the last crack at them. Stick with her. AUSTMARR was good winning at Cranbourne. She may not have to lead either as there is pace drawn inside her.
SUGGESTED BET: Tabata Set to win at $6.50. Taking boxed exacta 2,5.

RACE 3
Keen on SNOW PATROL to win again. He had late market support on debut and was too good for the handy Amigo over this t/d last month. Since back to the jumpouts and performed well when not asked to do too much. Gets the gun run from the draw and hard to beat. Happy to take $4.40 as he could start shorter. AKICITA debuted at Pakenham and won with a leg in the air but it was on the synthetic surface and has to replicate that on a soft surface and extra 200m.
SUGGESTED BET: Snow Patrol to win at $4.40.

RACE 4
HEREFORAGOODTIME hasn’t won for a while but she gets her chance in a very even contest. Had to make a long sustained run from 600m to hit the front on the turn and held on gamely behind the handy Crimson Light at Lakeside two weeks back. She gets the run of the race from the draw and you do know she will keep staying to the line. HOT SUSPECT tried hard behind Wanjiru at Lakeside last start and is holding his form well.
SUGGESTED BET: Hereforagoodtime to win at $6

RACE 5
Happy to be with VERSILIA again. She just had to be used up a bit early on to cross and get in a trailing position and then went for home in the straight before gunned down late. It was her first run in five weeks and draws better here to get the good run behind the speed. Jamie Kah sticks with her. Good value at $7.50. No doubt ETERNAL FLAME is the big danger after an impressive win when resuming at Lakeside. Even better suited at 1400m.
SUGGESTED BET: Versilia to win at $7.50. Taking 2,6 in boxed exacta.

RACE 6
ANILLA looks very well suited here. Now had two runs back from a break and she boxed on well behind Va Via in Saturday grade last start at Caulfield. Carried 3.5kg over the limit that day and has the same here, so looks well weighted coming back in class. Draws perfectly to get the gun run and reckon she will start shorter than $3.70. BOLDINHO has drawn awkwardly but he is close to a win and a big threat again.
SUGGESTED BET: Anilla to win at $3.70.

RACE 7
Former English galloper LEGEND OF DUBAI turned in a cracking effort when he chased hard down the straight to beat all but Hennessy Lad in Saturday grade at The Valley. Right at his top now, suited this bigger track and down in class. Well found at $2.25 but reckon $2.10 is probably more his right price anyway. RED PHANTOM is honest and was scratched from Caulfield last Saturday to be saved for this.
SUGGESTED BET: Legend Of Dubai to win at $2.25.
TIPS: Legend Of Dubai 1, Red Phantom 2, Magical Land 3, Speycaster 4.
RACE 8:
There are things against VIVIANE this time around. She has to carry 61kg, takes on the boys and has drawn wide. But there is only one turn to negotiate from this start, she did win this course and distance three starts back before two strong city wins and she drops in grade. In best form of her career and she can win again. The $5 looks attractive. FIRE is a talent when he has his mind on the job. Has looked good in his recent jumpouts and does go well this course and distance.
SUGGESTED BET: Viviane to win at $5.
TIPS: Viviane 1, Fire 2, Extreme Flight 3, Boonie 4.
BEST BET: Anilla (race 6)
