Check out all the hits and misses from the big bets from a massive Saturday of racing around Australia.
HITS
Randwick – Race 1 No.2 – Switzerland – $20,000 @ $1.90 (TAB)
Randwick – Race 1 No.2 – Switzerland – $4500 @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)
It seemed so strange to see a 2YO race won by someone not named Waterhouse/Bott this season, and Switzerland certainly had to fight that stable down to get the win here for the Waller/J-Mac combo. Shangri La Express really made Switzerland earn it, but the Coolmore colt got to work and really hunted the winning post like he wanted it. Now two-from-two.
???????? Switzerland shows his class and overhauls a brave Shangri La Express in the @CoolmoreAus Pierro Plate!

Randwick – Race 4 No.8 – Whinchat – $40,000 @ $1.80 (Sportsbet)
He took a little bit of riding from Jay Ford to get him going out of the gates, but once he found the front, he did not relent.
Randwick – Race 10 No.9 – Thunderlips – $10,000 Tote SP @ $2.40 (Topsport)
Bjorn Baker’s knack of winning the last in Sydney in recent times continues, as ‘last race Bjorn’ delivered a handy collect for this punter.
Flemington – Race 8 No.4 – Imperatriz – $15,000 @ $1.95 (Ladbrokes)
Flemington – Race 8 No.4 – Imperatriz – $10,000 @ $2.10 (neds)
Flemington – Race 8 No.4 – Imperatriz – $7000 @ $2 (neds)
Flemington – Race 8 No.4 – Imperatriz – $5000 @ $1.95 (neds)
Flemington – Race 8 No.4 – Imperatriz – $5000 @ $1.90 (Pointsbet)
Cracker of a finish to the Lightning, as Private Eye and Imperatriz went toe-to-toe after eyeballing one another from the get-go. Imperatriz just had Private Eye covered to bank her ninth G1 win and dismiss any doubts about how she’s travelling after a recent trial.
Emily Bosson @em_april was all of us watching Imperatriz.

MISSES
Randwick – Race 5 No.4 – Buenos Noches – $6000 @ $2 (Ladbrokes)
Randwick – Race 5 No.4 – Buenos Noches – $6000 @ $1.90 (Pointsbet)
This was a great watch as Buenos Noches went back to the last but was a mile off runaway leader Malkovich. While he hit the line well to be beaten less than 1.5L, Buenos Noches was never really in the winning hunt as the odds-on fav.
Randwick – Race 8 No.3 – Learning To Fly – $8,000 Tote SP (Topsport)
Another one to hit the line well, albeit missed out on the result by a narrow margin to Kimochi, who was due some winning luck after eight minor placings in her first nine starts.
Flemington – Race 7 No.13 – Hey Fat Cat – $5000 @ $12 (Pointsbet)
Decent enough run from ‘the Cat’ on the seven day back-up, but ultimately not a bill-paying one as he finished 5th, beaten 2.6L behind Riff Rocket.
Flemington – Race 8 No.1 – Private Eye – $5000 @ $5 (Sportsbet)
Admiral performance from ‘the Private’, who took it to Imperatriz and made a cracking race of it. Here’s hoping for a few more rematches yet.
Flemington – Race 9 No.12 – Jimmysstar – $10,000 @ $1.45 (Ladbrokes)
Flemington – Race 9 No.12 – Jimmysstar – $10,000 @ $1.60 (Topsport)
Flemington – Race 9 No.12 – Jimmysstar – $9000 @ $1.70 (TAB)
The ‘overs god’ certainly didn’t miss here, as Makram – at 150-1 – finished over the top of the red-hot fav Jimmystar, who was backed in to start a $1.26F.
WHAT AN UPSET! ????????????

Flemington – Race 9 No.10 – Carini – $10,000 (each-way) @ $13/2.80 (Sportsbet)
Fairly sick beat here as Carini monstered home, only to miss the placings by 0.2L. Ouch.
Eagle Farm – Race 8 No.9 – Schmoozer $5,000 @ $6 (Topsport)
Found the front and kicked for home, only to be run down on the inside by Seneschal ($11).
Pinjarra – Race 8 No.8 – Golden Vale – $10,000 Tote SP (Topsport)
Not renowned for their presence in WA, Coolmore race this filly with trainer Simon Miller – although she suffered her first defeat at start No.3 on Saturday in the $250,000 Magic Millions race for the 2YOs. She started $1.95, but finished 10th of 14 runners.

Big Shots puts in the big strides to overhaul rivals in the Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic over 1200m at Pinjarra.
