Country escape proves the perfect spot for a mum’s night away

It’s not unusual for mums to be running on empty, putting themselves last on the list, and basically doing everything to fill up everyone else’s cup before their own.

In fact, even taking a night off can feel daunting, but as the saying goes you can’t pour from an empty cup. Camden Valley Inn has created the perfect, guilt-free escape for mums who need a little break and a lot of rest & relaxation.

It’s just a short one-hour drive from Sydney’s CBD to Camden Valley Inn, where you’ll be surrounded by rolling hills, loads of peace and quiet and even a farm animal or two.

It’s far enough that you feel like you’re out of Sydney and can breathe in that magic country air, but close enough that if there was an emergency back home (because that’s how us mums think) you can get back quickly.

Camden Valley Inn offers cosy, beautifully styled king suites that make you feel well at home, from the gorgeous Juliet balcony overlooking the gardens and pool, to the beautiful deep bath equipped with bath caddy and wine holder for the ultimate end-of-night relaxation.

They’ve even catered to forgetful mums like me who forget to bring a charger – there is one on your bedside table clock.

Here’s where Aussies are travelling to this winter

A short stroll around the grounds you’ll find various lounges and loveseats under beautiful autumnal trees where you can sit and read or simply enjoy a glass of wine.

Once you’re ready to eat, it’s a short stroll into the Inn where you’ll find a fun (but not overcrowded) atmosphere for a meal.

The outlook is beautiful and the area has been beautifully furnished to feel like a home away from home, plus the entire deck has been kitted out with overhead heaters so you can enjoy feeling like you’re outdoors without the cooler temperatures affecting you.

The Inn has just released its new winter menu and it doesn’t disappoint – comfort food at its’ best with Spanish prawns, Nonna’s Meatballs and Woodfire pizzas washed down with a delectable Salted Caramel Espresso Martini – if it wasn’t for the need to sleep later I definitely would have had more.

There’s also live music and fire pits for those who want to stick around for longer but as a mum, I was keen to prioritise sleep and wanted to make use of the inviting king bed.

It’s only a short stroll to bed, but fortunately, the noise from the bar doesn’t travel so you’re safe knowing you can still get a good night’s sleep.

The bed itself was incredibly comfortable and comes with two types of pillows so you can take your pick.

The bath was divine and the shower perfect. It wasn’t hard to feel like I’d properly relaxed in just a few short hours of being there.

After an uninterrupted night’s sleep and a nice, slow morning (making use of not having to feed or dress any kids) it’s a leisurely walk across to the dining area again for breakfast – which has a delicious menu with offerings such as caramelised pancake stacks and loaded toasties.

But a mum’s night away wouldn’t be complete without some proper R&R time and that’s where The Bath House comes in.

A haven for tired, depleted mothers to sip a glass of bubbles while enjoying the soothing spa bubbles for a couple of hours.

There are a range of spas of different sizes and temperatures, as well as a magnesium pool, a sauna and a steam room, all set in beautifully decorated, So-Cal inspired surroundings.

The Bath House also ensures there is never any chance of getting too crowded, there is always an empty spa to enjoy.

Mums looking for a little extra can also add a treatment to their time there such as the LED lounger which was quite possibly the most relaxing thirty minutes I’ve had in the last four years of being a mum.

So once you have soaked your tired body you can float on out of there and back home knowing you’ve had the most restful 24 hours of your mum life (before the onslaught of the kids brings you right back to reality).
