In pictures: Derby Day fundraiser in Townsville

The Rotary Club of Townsville Saints held its Derby Day Luncheon fundraiser event at Rydges Southbank in Palmer St.

Each year the club’s Derby Day event raises money for different non-profit organisations, with this year’s funds being directed to support the Mothers in Arms initiative.

“This year the club has dedicated the fundraising to one of our very own Saints, Lyn French, who is the Founding Director/CEO of BushEd which is providing quality education to those living outside urban centres,” Rotary Club of Townsville Saints member Malou Alexopoulos said.

“One of their programs is “Mothers in Arms” – design to match new mothers with experienced mums or grandmothers (buddies) who have faced similar circumstances such as isolation, new parenthood, or working in challenging environments in regional, rural and remote Queensland.

“The goal is to foster a supportive community where life experiences are shared, and valuable insights are passed on.”
