The region’s overflowing with great events

While the weather’s heating up, so too is the entertainment scene in the Hunter, with P!nk and Tim Minchin leading the way.

P!nk

  • Where: McDonald Jones Stadium
  • When: Tuesday 13 February
  • Cost: From $356.82

American pop powerhouse P!nk is bringing her Summer Carnival tour to town.

The multi-award winning singer, who’s given fans such hits as So What, Just Give Me a Reason, What About Us, Raise Your Glass, Try, Who Knew, Get The Party Started, Beautiful Trauma, Please Don’t Leave Me and U & Ur Hand, last visited Newcastle in 2009 when stepped onto the stage at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

She also boasts five number one albums in Australia, including Hurts 2B Human, Funhouse, Greatest Hits…So Far!!!, The Truth About Love and Beautiful Trauma.

But, February’s extravaganza is her maiden appearance at McDonald Jones Stadium and is set to enthral the masses in attendance.

All up, P!nk’s sold more than 135 million records worldwide (60 million albums and 75 million singles), making her one of the world’s best-selling music artists.

An Unfunny* Evening with Tim Minchin and his Piano

  • Where: Civic Theatre
  • When: Sunday 18 and Monday 19 February (7.30pm to 9.30pm)
  • Cost: From $101

The Olivier, Helpmann, AACTA, Logie Award-winning, Grammy and Tony-nominated poly-talent plays a handful of intimate and informal solo dates in Australia this summer.

Minchin will perform songs drawn from his 2020 studio album, Apart Together, from his musicals, Matilda and Groundhog Day, from his TV and film writing, and from his early songwriting days around the turn of the century.

The set list will be fluid, the chat unplanned and the vibe informal, although he plans to wear shoes.

This is a rare chance for fans of Minchin, who was honoured with the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to the performing arts and to the community on the 2020 Australia Day Honours list, and the craft of songwriting.
