Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is thrilled to announce its support for the inaugural Eclipse Toowoomba – a LUNA Light Journey. This exciting event, organized by LASERVISION, will take place in 2024 during the Easter holiday period.
“This is a great result for our community,” says TRC Environment and Community Committee Chair Cr James O’Shea. “Council was excited about the benefits for the community under the original proposal, which forecasted around $3.45 million into the local economy.”
The updated timeline will see the event span over a 23-day period, coinciding with the school holidays. This strategic timing, during a less cool period of the year, is expected to attract more visitors and inject more money into our local businesses.
“While this event has successfully been held in other locations in Queensland, this will be the first time it’s coming to our Region,” adds Cr O’Shea. “It promises to be an event for the entire family.”
Council’s Support and Commitment
As part of the sponsorship, Council has committed $41,359, which includes waiving park usage fees, the electricity meter reading fee, and an application lodgement fee associated with conducting Eclipse Toowoomba – a LUNA Light Journey installation at Queens Park Botanic Gardens.
Eclipse Toowoomba – a LUNA Light Journey is scheduled to be open to the public from Friday 22 March to Saturday 13 April 2024. Don’t miss this unforgettable experience!
